A blog for reviews… that's really not much of a blog

Foreword: A uniquely designed game. If you hate school life comedy/romance or is simply sick of it like me, to a point, this may be a good “relief game”. The game is actually created very well, with a fair amount of animations, which would’ve been hard to do, and several animations that add reality to the game. So far, this has been the best game for animations. However, the game did have some bad parts, which will be explained below. This is a game I finished within 1 month of its release. Yay~ (just barely though)

Title: Re:birth colony -Lost azurite-
Producers: Applique
Release Date: September 28th, 2012
VNDB Link: http://vndb.org/v10642
Game Type: Novel

Summary: After the crisis of Star Rain, humans moved underground and formed a society there. Ruled by the “Queen” (which is actually just an AI), the residents of Aquarius (omg so original. /sarcasm) live a peaceful life aided by computers and technology. Souji Rindo is one of them, and he’s given a mission to spy on an aristocrat named “Seruria Celestite”. During his spying, he accidentally meets face to face with his client, and they develop an awkward atmosphere. However, this is broken when Souji recognizes a strange movement within the Knight Army, and rushes to the area of target using his hacking.

There, he finds something…

Story Length: Moderate (25 hours)
Complete Story Clearing Difficulty: Easy
Comments: You will need to complete all the heroine’s routes except Azurite’s, which you’ll come across a Bad End at first. You’ll realize that there’s a reason for this though.

Character Design Rating: 8/10
Story Rating: 4/10
Game Quality: Superior
Overall Rating: 6/10
Rating Comments: Good character design. Not only are the CGs well drawn, you can see that each of the characters possess a personality that you’ll find that you can sympathize with: Seruria is an aristocrat, but loves lazing around and enjoying junk food; Ruri is an idol (who’s pretty) but is a complete bracon; Neue has a suggestive body (LOL) but isn’t too good with sexual topics.

Lots of effort put into CG, I can tell O_O

Sexual Content: Moderate, but I was disappointed that the H-scenes were rather weak; the voices won’t really become an arousing factor, because it’s so passive o_O

Additionally, 1/2 of the H-scenes occur either in virtual reality or a dream. That really takes out of the purpose =3=;;

Comments: OMG AIRI-CHAN~ <333

*coff* *ahem*…

In the beginning of the game, you should see a really, really cute girl wearing a flimsy outfit. Apparently, that’s the foster mother of Souji, and is actually over 30 years of age. Nonetheless, throughout the story, it can be found that she’s not a regular human, and is actually the boss of a crime organization called “Genchiana”

I wish Airi-chan would assault me OwO

Furthermore, like SINCLIENT, this game is EXTREMELY hard to recognize unless you are fluent with Japanese. If you do play the game, do note that there’s a built in Glossary and “Azurite’s 3-minute hacking” that helps you understand the story.

Affection for the Characters: Moderate

CG Quality: High. As I said, you’ll be greeted with animated sprites and effects, so you’ll feel more involved with the story, than other games.
Music Quality: Low, actually =( Besides the Opening Movie, there’s really no significant songs that was found to be “good”. While the insert song has a calm feeling to it, its voice is a little crappy (sorry Ruri XP)

I don’t know about you, but I LOOOOOOVE blue hair <3

Addictiveness: Low.

Conclusion: An acceptable game, with a good CG and character design, but difficult plotline that also gets a low rating for its roundabout-ness and incompleteness. OP music is good, so I’ll probably save that, but other than that, CG is probably the only thing you’ll probably save with this VN xP

If playing this game, I recommend to play solely this, because if you play other games along with this one, there are chances of you forgetting some important keywords that help understand of the game.

  1. Had a quick read of a couple of your reviews, and I like how they’re very easy to read ^^. Also, I’m impressed that you have so many reviews given that you’ve only been blogging for a couple of months.

Keep up the good work. I’ll be cheering you on XD.

  2. Hey,

Just a quick comment to thank you about your work, as finding good novels is kinda hard.

A pity I don’t understand japanese, though I can still keep an eye for a patch or just learn it, somehow ^^

Again, most of the VN you reviewed looked awesome, thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you for your comment. You have no idea how much encouragement I get from a simple comment like this.

It IS quite a pity that lots of players are unable to play these games, but fret not! When the “Annot Player” is finished, I plan on translating some of the Visual Novels that I play .

One thing I need to apologize about is that while I do write reviews, I only do so when I’m completely finished with it. In a different sense, this takes a while; at least 10-20 hours for each visual novel, so I thank you very much for your patience~ ^^
