Sequel to the Co-existence! Review of [160923]Tayutama 2

Foreword: Oh god, the salt. Oh man, the rustled jimmies. Although on the other hand, I’m so freaking glad I didn’t act on my impulses and preorder this game.

As I’ve fearfully predicted as with others on my preview, this most hyped sequel for 2016 ended up being very very poor. Unlike the kamige that I thoroughly enjoyed in the past, the only thing this game had to offer was pretty much the same setting  (though if you wanted to argue, even this was not the same) as the prequel, except the writer was obviously too new or forced to write in a certain manner which ruined all the fame and glory obtained by the first game.

I’m also in the process of playing Giniro Haruka, and despite the ridiculous and painful length, almost finished with it. I plan on finishing that title before moving into August’s new September title (icwutididthar?), so bear with me that reviews aren’t so rapidly produced as I hoped it to be. (MMORPGs are too fun)

Just a fair warning that I’m going to be bashing this game SEVERELY within this review. If you enjoyed it for whatever reason, you may become offended, so keep that in mind as well.

Title: タユタマ (Tayutama) 2 – You are the only one
Producers: Lump of Sugar
Release Date: September 23, 2016
VNDB Link: https://vndb.org/v17388
Getchu Link: http://www.getchu.com/soft.phtml?id=883685
Game Type: Romance Adventure; Sequel

Summary: 50 Years have passed since the end of Tayutama, and there has been several efforts by both humans and the tayutai to coexist. These efforts are only small-scale now, but with people like Yumina, Ameri, and Mifuyu working hard, the efforts are starting to bear fruit.

Kusakabe Sora is an orphan who lives in a town called Yakotami, where the spiritual powers are relatively stronger than any other areas. Because he himself has higher spiritual abilities, he is able to see these Tayutai and interact with them as well.

One day, Sora witnesses a fight between a human child and a Tayutai, and rushes towards them to mediate the conflict. It’s really not rare to see resistances to this kind of “co-existence”, and Sora himself works hard to alleviate any form of conflict. Soon after, a girl appears in front of him with strange ears. This girl who presents herself as Kohaku take him to the Yachimata Shrine and asks him to become her husband.

This bewilders our protagonist, who was completely unexpecting such a request. However, with the explanation of Mito Mashiro, Kohaku’s mother, Sora learns that Kohaku has been searching for a partner to further solidify the co-existence between humans and Tayutai, and found Sora desirable as that partner.

“Well, I’m not sure about marriage…” is what Sora admits, but he agrees to live in the Yachimata Shrine along with this young girl and agrees to cooperate in her quest.

The Race to be the World’s Ruler! Review of [160226]World Election

Foreword: If you followed me and my eroge career so far, you’d know that I’ve played every single Whirlpool game with the exception of a game called “Ina Koi” which is their very first game and probably not that great (I say this based on 3rd-party reviews). I planned on keeping this “streak of completion” throughout, so it’s only natural that World Election, their 10th anniversary game, is next on my list. Honestly, I actually planned on writing this review MUCH sooner, but stuff happens and I’m currently in Orlando, Florida, so there’s that.

Oh well, right into the game. Long story short, World Election was unexpectedly good at least compared with the relatively lower expectations I had for the game. While obviously not up to par with older titles like Suzukaze no Melt, this game did have a colorful character design which I hope to discuss. As expected from a “10th anniversary game”, World Election did have more effort placed into creating a serious charage, which includes the presence of a “True Route”

I’ll try to go through with what I thought about the game overall!

Summary: One day, five different worlds all with very different paradigms and thoughts, as well as the population all collapsed into one. This resulted in utter chaos as each world’s leaders struggled to find a good balance of each of their cultures as to not clash with others. As things settled down, a school was created for the bright youngsters of each of these five worlds to participate and learn about each other’s differences.

Kei is said student who actually has very little friends. His scary looks and his abilities as a a “Dummy Maker” placed fear in the hearts of all the students in the very first day of his school, and while he doesn’t like the school per se, he also doesn’t want to be dragged back home to his strict father.

This is why when his father does call and finds out that Kei wasn’t really getting anything from attending school, he enforces Kei’s return. Upon desperation, Kei promises his dad that he’ll become the next Student Council President to show him his passion!

The Future for Vampires: Review of [120330] Dracu-Riot!

Foreword: Alright, who’s the derphead who told me this game was the best Yuzusoft game? YOU LIED TO ME.

Yeah, so after having played a couple of Yuzusoft’s games, I got my hands on what was said to be the “best” of Yuzusoft games, but…

Nope, it didn’t turn out good.
In retrospect, the beginning is indeed very good, and even the flow throughout is excellent. It’s just that like all the other typical charage out there, it loses its focus and in the majority of routes, rushes the romance between the characters, then in the end, uses a very convenient mechanism to solve the conflict that’s at hand.

I’ll try to get to both this game’s goods and bads. Scroll down for the review for Dracu Riot.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Game Type: Fantasy Mystery Novel with themes of Vampires

Summary: Yuuto and his friend is traveling to the famous “Aqua Eden”, well known for its Las Vegas-like conditions (pretty sure that’s where the authors themselves got the setting from, too), after winning a travel ticket from sheer luck. Both of them are excited to experience this mystical land, with each of them their own reasons.

As they arrive, they realize that without a tour guide, they’re pretty much lost. Finally asking a random girl for help, the kind girl who introduces herself as Miu leads them to the “prostitution” store they (well, not for Yuuto, since he didn’t have enough money) were looking for, but after she departs, they soon hear her scream off in the distance.

Yuuto thinks fast and follows the car that kidnaps their temporary tour guide and end up at a storage near the port. Unfortunately for him, his plan to save the girl is foiled with one of the kidnappers noticing he was there. Now with his life destined to end, the girl who is tied next to him looks at his face and says

“I won’t let you die”

Wow! So cool!
