Humans Live Today Possibly Dying Tomorrow: Review of [160729] Floral Flowlove

Foreword: Okay, so this review was slightly delayed because I (like I do always) completely forgot I had a 6-day work week which obviously is going to crush my playtime of galge or MMOs. Apologies in advance for the delay!

Let’s get into the review anyways. As you know, my previous games with Saga Planets (or Sagi “Scammer” Planets as some Korean players might call them xD) involved Hatsuyuki Sakura and Kisaragi Gold Star, which I believe are both written by the dreaded Nijima Yuu. It’s going to be a little different this time, with different writers and a different setting; Getchu labels this game as a 恋愛ADV (Romance Adventure) which means it’s pretty much your normal galge.

However, I should definitely mention that I’m really getting sick of all these “Romance Adventure” games that skimp out on romance the most. Don’t get the wrong idea though; story-wise, this game was extremely well planned and highly intricate, while also being fun in some portions, but as it’s advertised as a ROMANCE ADVENTURE game, I’m going to have to criticize the living daylights out of this game because the romance portion was pretty much the worst thing that this game had to offer. Like seriously. Just take out the damned romance and you have such a great game! Why ruin it, SP??

You might also be surprised to hear from me that this game was also quite depressing, at least in my opinion. I’m going to explain my reasoning for this as well as other elements that contributed to this game within the review below, so let’s begin!

In order to properly prove my points, spoilers are included in this review. Please read at your own risk!

Summary: “I met an Angel that day”

That’s the quote that Masataka states even as he does not believe that God exists or angels for that matter, and this is already on top of how he can see white or black feathers emanating from a person’s back depending on whether or not the person has a good or bad motives. Aside from this special ability called a “Gift”, Masataka is mostly apathetic about various things and refuses to get involved with anyone, including his childhood friend Kano, her best friend Nanao, or anyone around him for that matter.

He was always searching for what happened to him in the past since he couldn’t remember anything, and for the most part, seems do not care that much. It’s not until long, however, a girl named Adelheid who seems to know something about the “accident” a long time ago that catches his attention, and he then finds the motivation to find out everything he can to learn about himself.

The Consequences of Sin and Hatred: Review of [120928]SINCLIENT

Foreword: So I’ve actually gotten into replaying games that I’ve finished already and found to be enjoyable. One of them was this title, called “SINCLIENT”, published by Boost5 way back in 2012.

To make things short, this was a great game. From climactic scenes to character designs with impact and a resourceful protagonist, this game had quite a bit of the elements I would prefer in a “good game”, and especially after charage like Kodomo no Asobi, I found this to be quite a good change in pace and atmosphere.

Yet I’m here to talk about things I didn’t really appreciate. While much less prevalent than the good portions, it’s something that needs to be pointed out in a good review, no?

While I do have another review for this title on this blog, I’m probably going to be much more detailed with this more recent review.

In addition to this, due to how old this title is, this review will contain INTENTIONAL AND MAJOR spoilers! Please refrain from reading this review if you don’t want the title to be spoiled!

Summary:

…Who am I? I wake up in an ambulance where the worker tries his best to calm me down in my confusion. Whatever happened, I don’t know who I am, nor why I am in an ambulance. Suddenly, a car crashes into the ambulance!! Out pops several men in black suits and sunglasses, and they kill everyone in the ambulance within a matter of seconds.

But how…

… How does my body react so quickly? I quickly steal a gun from one of them and eliminate them all… How was I able to do that? What the hell am I?

I look around the environment I’m in, but nothing comes to mind. I don’t know who I am, I don’t know where I live, and I realize that now that I’ve killed people, I can’t stroll out in the daylight freely.

In my wallet, I have many fake IDs, and a hotel key. Maybe I’ll learn something when I get there! In great hopes, I open the door…

… A woman lies face up, her throat cut open, with “pigrizia” (laziness in Italian) written on the wall with her blood.

WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME?!

The History of Life and Greed: Review of [150424]Evenicle

Foreword: And holy crap this game was long.

Evenicle, pronounced “Eve-nicle” is a game that two of my friends Aero and will recommended to me a couple of weeks ago, saying that it was the “currently best game of 2015”. I decided to give it a try and found that it was a “game” novel.

As surprising as it may be, I’m actually quite experienced with “game novels”. In fact, I absolutely love them because they add in player-interaction within the gameplay. Unfortunately, this also relates to poorer story design because it’s just that much harder to incorporate a good story inside a game.

Right, let’s get on with the review.

Due to the nature of this review, mild spoilers are intentionally included. Read at your own Risk!
